The Toyota models we buy

What we look for in each model.

Mileage ranges we see in our pipeline, common faults at the high end of that range, and how each spec affects the offer.

Prius (Mk3, Mk4, Plug-in)

120,000 to 250,000 miles

One of the UK's best-loved hybrids for two decades. We see 200 to 300 Prius per quarter. Mk4 (2016 to 2022) holds value best; Mk3 (2009 to 2015) is the high-mileage end of the market. The Plug-in (PHEV) variant with 8.8 kWh pack commands a premium in clean-air zones.

Common at the high end

  • Hybrid battery cell imbalance at 200k+ (refurbished pack £2,800 to £3,500 at a specialist)
  • Inverter coolant pump replacement around 180k
  • Front brake disc warping on heavy stop-start cycle cars

Corolla Hybrid (Hatch, Touring Sports, Saloon)

60,000 to 180,000 miles

Successor to the Auris Hybrid, and hugely popular across the UK since 2019. The Touring Sports estate variant is in demand with families and high-mileage drivers who need real boot space; we usually pay £500 to £800 more for the estate body.

Common at the high end

  • Hybrid battery cooling fan failure (rear seat squeak before failure)
  • Rear suspension bush wear at 120k+
  • Brake disc warping on high-mileage motorway cars

Camry Hybrid (Saloon)

40,000 to 150,000 miles

Reintroduced to the UK market in 2019 as a refined executive saloon. Lower volumes than Prius or Corolla but commands a premium for the cabin space and full-leather interior.

Common at the high end

  • Rear arm bush wear from 80k onwards
  • Climate control ECU intermittent at low ambient temperatures

What affects your Toyota offer

What moves the offer up or down.

Service stamps matter more than mileage

Toyota main-dealer service history adds £600 to £1,200 over an unbranded independent stamp. A digital service record we can pull from Toyota directly is worth more than a paper book.

Hybrid battery health (HV pack)

We check pack capacity at collection using the OBD2 hybrid diagnostic. A documented Toyota-authorised battery refurbishment within the last 30,000 miles adds real value; a non-Toyota refurb is treated as neutral.

Plug-in vs self-charging

Prius PHEV and Corolla PHEV command £1,000 to £2,000 more than self-charging equivalents in clean condition. The 8.8 kWh plug-in pack does wear faster than the self-charging unit; we check separately.

Both keys

Missing the spare key knocks £150 to £300 off a Prius offer. Toyota dealer key cut + program is £250 at most franchises; that cost lands on us if you can only hand over one key.

Clean-air-zone friendly

Toyota hybrids meet the emissions requirements for UK clean-air zones. No deduction for emissions status on our offers; some generalist buyers still apply one out of habit.

Toyota market, today

Where Toyota prices are right now.

Toyota Prius and Corolla Hybrid dominate our intake, together they are about 35% of every quarter's volume. Trade prices firmed in 2026 as clean-air-zone expansion pulled older diesels out of the market faster than expected. Clean Mk4 Prius (2018 to 2020) is £8,500 to £11,500 retail-trade right now; we anchor against that range and add specialist premium for cars with documented battery health and full Toyota main-dealer service history.

Toyota FAQ

Common questions.

Does the hybrid battery age matter on my Prius?

Yes, but less than people think. Toyota HEV batteries are over-engineered, we routinely buy Prius with 250,000+ miles where the original pack is still healthy. We check pack capacity at collection. A 200k Mk4 Prius with the original battery still holding 70%+ capacity is worth more than the same car with a recent refurbished pack from a non-Toyota supplier.

I have a Corolla Hybrid Touring Sports. Does it sell better than the hatch?

Slightly. Estate body styles are about £500 to £800 more in our network because the load space is in demand. The hatch is more common, but the estate carries the load, so we pay more for it.

My Prius is in plug-in (PHEV) trim. How does that affect the offer?

Premium of £1,000 to £2,000 over the self-charging equivalent in clean condition. The PHEV battery wears more than the standard HEV pack so we check capacity carefully, but the EV-only range and clean-air-zone advantages mean trade buyers compete harder for these cars.

I've had a Toyota-approved battery refurbishment. Is the receipt enough?

Yes. A Toyota dealer or Toyota-authorised independent (e.g. Hybrid Plus) refurb with a dated invoice adds £600 to £1,200 to our offer because the next owner has documented battery state. Non-authorised refurbs are treated as neutral, neither a plus nor a minus.
