Mk3, Mk4 and Mk5, and what each is worth.
Mk3 (XA30, 2006-2012)
The tough, practical family 4x4 with the well-regarded 2.2 diesel. Older now, but honest examples keep moving through the trade and export channels, so age alone never rules one out.
Typical condition: 100,000-180,000 miles. Honest workhorses.
Mk4 (XA40, 2013-2018)
Bigger, more refined, and the first with a hybrid option from 2016. Diesels remained popular for towing. A steady seller in the used market with predictable trade demand across all drivetrains.
Typical condition: 60,000-130,000 miles. Plenty of good used stock.
Mk5 (XA50, 2019+)
The current shape: 2.5 self-charging hybrid as the volume car, joined by the plug-in with a large battery and serious EV-only range. Strong residuals, quick trade turnaround, and the plug-in is priced separately for its drivetrain.
Typical condition: under 80,000 miles. The most common used RAV4 today.

How much do you actually pay for a RAV4?+

Do you still buy diesel RAV4s?+

Is the plug-in RAV4 priced differently from the hybrid?+
Yes. The plug-in carries a large battery and genuine EV-only range, and it prices well above the self-charging hybrid. Declare it in the valuation flow so the right drivetrain gets valued.
I've used mine for towing. Does that hurt the offer?+
Not by itself. A towbar with a sensible history on a serviced car is normal RAV4 life. What matters is condition evidence: service stamps, MOT history and an honest description. Declare it and the offer stands on collection day.
Is the RAV4 hybrid four-wheel drive?+
It depends on the version. The self-charging hybrid was sold as front-wheel drive and as AWD-i, where a separate electric motor drives the rear wheels; the plug-in is AWD-i only. Tell us which you have, it is part of the specification we price.

Paid in full by bank transfer before your vehicle leaves. The car is checked, you accept, and the full amount is sent before it leaves you. No fees to you, admin or otherwise. The price holds if the vehicle is as described. Any change is explained first, and you can say no.
What do I need to have ready on the day?+
The V5C logbook in your name, photo ID, both sets of keys and your UK bank details. Bring the service history and any finance settlement letter if you have them.
